After the scandal surrounding Law No. 4555-IX, the president is trying to restore his reputation — commentary by Tetiana Khutor

The President of Ukraine has taken a public step aimed at restoring confidence in the country's anti-corruption agenda, both domestically and among international partners. The day before, Volodymyr Zelensky met with the heads of NABU and SAPO, who reported on new anti-corruption revelations. The announcement of the meeting was accompanied by a photo, an English version, and clear messages about the priority of the fight against corruption.

According to Tetiana Khutor, chairwoman of the Institute of Legislative Ideas think tank, these actions are part of an attempt to create a positive public image after the high-profile scandal surrounding Law No. 4555-IX, which significantly damaged Ukraine's image.

“This is a signal to both Ukrainian society and international partners that the fight against corruption is also a priority for the president. It is an attempt to show that the head of state and the anti-corruption authorities are on the same side,” Khutor commented.

She emphasizes that such steps are not only politically significant but also important for Ukraine's reputation. It is not only about fighting corruption but also about protecting Ukraine's reputation and the authority of its leader on the international stage.
