How to Document War-Damaged Property: ILI Invites Businesses to a Training Session
Russian aggression has inflicted billions of dollars in damage on Ukrainian businesses. Destroyed and damaged offices, warehouses, production facilities, and other commercial real estate require proper documentation. The quality of the evidence collected is crucial for protecting businesses' rights and securing compensation.
On 30 July, the Institute of Legislative Ideas, with the participation of experts from the "Return Yours" project and with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation, will hold a free online training for representatives of affected businesses and business associations on documenting damage to commercial real estate owned or used by legal entities.
During the training, participants will:
- learn about the key tools and methods for documenting damage to commercial real estate;
- discuss the role of independent valuation and forensic expertise in assessing the amount of damages;
- examine complex practical issues, including how to prove a legal entity's ownership of or right to use commercial real estate, as well as whether it is advisable to terminate ownership rights to a destroyed property and the legal implications of such a decision;
- review the evidence required to support the protection of affected businesses' rights in compensation claims and judicial proceedings.
Date: 30 July 2026
Time: 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
