Andriy Klymosiuk, legal analyst at the ILI, spoke on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel about the transfer of funds received from tax revenues from Russian assets to Ukraine

These funds were received from tax revenues from Russian financial assets frozen in Belgium. Half of the amount, €46 million, is earmarked for new military aid, including armored vehicles, weapons, and ammunition. Another €46 million will be used to support the people of Ukraine and strengthen the Belgian diplomatic presence.

"Belgium is home to the headquarters of the international depository Euroclear, where Russian sovereign assets are most likely held. Over the year, Belgium received €625 million in taxes from these funds, part of which was transferred to Ukraine," - said the expert.

He noted that the United States is also moving in this direction

"The US is investigating several cases of sanctions evasion. In one of them, the instrument of civil forfeiture has already been applied as part of criminal proceedings for sanctions evasion. USD 5.4 million belonging to Russian oligarch Malofeev has already been confiscated and transferred to Ukraine," said Andriy Klymosiuk.

According to him, Ukraine's partner countries, in turn, should implement mechanisms of civil confiscation of assets of sanctioned persons in their legislation.
