Andrii Klymosiuk, lawyer-analyst at the ILI, spoke on the air of Ukrainian Radio about the peculiarities and importance of the introduction of a unified register of damages from the Russian aggressive war
‘The register of losses is the first step towards an international compensation mechanism. The aggressor must pay for the damage caused,’ the expert said.
According to him, the register will be created based on an international agreement, which will also regulate the activities of the compensation commission and the compensation fund.
‘The register will contain all the information about damages to Ukrainian citizens and foreigners, both to the state of Ukraine and to legal entities: Ukrainian and foreign,’ said Klymosiuk.
He added that the main challenge is to fill the fund, including through confiscated Russian assets.
