One of the categories under which an application can be submitted to the International Register of Losses relates to forced internal displacement
3.6 million Ukrainians have been internally displaced since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. These people lost their homes because of the invasion and are entitled to compensation.
Anyone who has been forced to leave their homes within Ukraine after 24 February 2022 as a result of Russian aggression can apply. Even if a person is not registered as an internally displaced person (IDP), they can provide other evidence of displacement (photos, videos, tickets, etc. confirming displacement after 24 February 2022).
Importantly, the category does not cover material consequences (loss of job, property), but records the fact of forced displacement. The opportunity to submit an application will be available in the near future.
Although payments to victims have not yet been made, applying to the Register is the first important step towards compensation.
The Institute has prepared guidelines designed to help victims receive clear and concise information on the possibility of filing a claim and the steps to be taken.
Please follow our updates and share the guide so that every victim can properly record their losses and claim fullcompensation.
