On December 16, 2024, Kyiv hosted the first working meeting of the Civil Society Coordination Platform initiated by the Register of Damage for Ukraine (RD4U)
The event, which combined face-to-face and online participation, brought together about 70 representatives from more than 40 institutions, including civil society organizations, national and international partners, and government officials. The purpose of the platform is to consolidate efforts to protect the rights of victims of the Russian Federation's aggression.
The Coordination Platform, established on October 31, 2024, aims to strengthen cooperation between the Registry and civil society organizations (CSOs). Markiyan Kliuchkovskyi, Executive Director of the Registry, noted that: "Fulfillment of our mandate and outreach would not be possible without the participation of all CSOs involved in the Platform, and we deeply count on your support. This cooperation is a two-way process: we count on your help in disseminating information about the Registry and supporting capacity building in Ukraine, while we are also eager to hear your views. Your experience in interacting with potential applicants, identifying pressing issues, and highlighting challenges that need to be addressed will be invaluable. We look forward to this meaningful and practical dialog."
During the meeting, Tetyana Khutor, Head of the Institute of Legislative Ideas, and Andriy Klymosiuk, Project Manager, proposed to intensify cooperation between NGOs and the Registry. They emphasized the importance of coordinating actions, avoiding duplication of work, and maximizing the use of resources to increase the effectiveness of joint efforts. The ILI representatives also spoke about the first Guide, created based on official documents of the Registry posted on its website, which explains all the details of application submission in an accessible way.
During the event, the participants discussed the terms of cooperation, identified future priorities, and agreed that the Registry would inform the Platform members about its activities. They also presented the next category of applications and considered current issues of submitting applications of already available categories through the Diia application.
The Institute of Legislative Ideas plans to continue supporting initiatives aimed at improving the work of the Coordination Platform. The joint activities of the involved CSOs will contribute to better protection of the rights of war victims, increase their awareness of the application procedures, and meet their urgent needs.
