The head of ILI on further actions in imposing sanctions against Mindich
Due to the absence of criminal liability for sanctions violations in Ukrainian legislation, sanctioned businessmen Tymur Mindich and Oleksandr Zuckerman are able to circumvent the restrictions imposed on them. This was stated by the Head of the Institute of Legislative Ideas, Tetiana Khutor, on Channel 5.
“The Verkhovna Rada has still not voted for draft law No. 12406, which is supposed to introduce liability for such actions. The document has been under consideration in parliament for almost a year. Therefore, Mindich will have no fear of bypassing the sanctions,” – noted the head of ILI.
The expert emphasized that criminal-law mechanisms should operate alongside sanction instruments. Meanwhile, anti-corruption bodies have initiated the seizure of several of Mindich’s assets, which would allow them to be transferred to the external management of the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA).
