Ukraine imposed sanctions on 3,800 Russians and over 1,300 Russian companies
Ukraine has imposed sanctions on 1,374 legal entities and more than 3,800 individuals. This is stated in Presidential Decrees No . 726 and No. 727. By these documents, the Head of State put into effect the NSDC decision of 19 October 2022 ‘On the application and amendment of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)’.
The President entrusted NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov with control over the implementation of the decrees.
Among others, the following companies will be subject to sanctions: The Russian Direct Investment Fund, Rostelecom, RusHydro, Alrosa, Rosderzhstrakh, Alfa-Bank and related insurance and financial companies. Holding, Sogaz, the Russian Presidential Administration and the Rossiya Special Aviation Unit, the Kazan Helicopter Plant and Admiralty Shipyards, Kamaz, and Sukhoi Civil Aircraft.
Among the individuals sanctioned were people from Putin's inner circle. They include Vladimir Lisin, Leonid Michelson, Gennady Timchenko, Suleiman Kerimov, Mikhail Prokhorov, Leonid Fedun, Dmitry Rybolovlev, Yuri Kovalchuk and his family members, Arkady, Boris and Igor Rotenberg, Said Gutseriev, Yelena Baturina, Eugene Kaspersky, Roman Abramovich and Daria Zhukova, Yusuf Alekperov and his family members, Nikolay Mamut, Denis Aven, Alexey Mordashev and his brothers, Irina Viner-Usmanova, and Yevgeny Giner.
The list also includes Russian athlete Alina Kabayeva, Russian TV presenter Tina Kandelaki and the son of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, Oleksandr.
The sanctions include 17 restrictive measures ranging from the freezing of assets and the complete cessation of trade and transit of resources to the suspension of economic and financial obligations, cancellation or suspension of licences.
Individuals were, among other things, deprived of the right to use and dispose of assets.
In order for the assets of the sanctioned persons to be confiscated, the Ministry of Justice must file a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine. Read more about how Ukraine can get this money in our analysis.
