This week, the RISE Ukraine Coalition in cooperation with Isar Ednannia held a workshop to strengthen the international advocacy capacity of Ukrainian NGOs and charitable foundations
Tetyana Khutor and Andriy Klymosyuk conducted training on advocating for the confiscation of Russian assets abroad.
The training focused on advocacy messages that should be communicated to an international audience, what questions are usually asked of organizations promoting this topic, and how to respond to them.
Why is it important?
No matter what area a civil society organization works in - economy, environment, culture, education, etc. - Russia has caused damage to Ukraine everywhere. That is why it is important to convey the main message correctly - it is Russian money that should become the basis for compensating Ukraine for the damage caused by the war. And right now, without waiting for the war to end.
The World Bank estimates that the amount of damage is $411 billion. However, this is an estimate as of the beginning of 2023, it does not take into account the temporarily occupied territories and, unfortunately, the amount is increasing every day. Therefore, the main goal is to recover all frozen Russian assets, which are estimated at around USD 300 billion.
