The National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine is proposing to create a Bureau of Sanctions Policy
This was reported by the NSDC press service.
‘The draft law contains a number of significant innovations, in particular, in terms of the list and powers of entities in the field of sanctions policy, entities that propose to apply, change or lift sanctions, the procedure for adjusting sanctions, etc.’, the statement said.
The National Security and Defence Council said that the Sanctions Policy Bureau, according to the draft law, is a working body of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine that will coordinate the activities of entities implementing Ukraine's sanctions policy.
Among other things, the Bureau will review proposals for the imposition of sanctions for compliance with the conceptual approaches, directions, and measures in the field of sanctions policy of Ukraine determined by the NSDC.
The acting Chief of Staff of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, Andriy Zyuz, who took part in the meeting of the governmental committee, noted that the Council's Secretariat is ‘fully prepared’ to work on the creation of the State Register of Sanctions, which is to be established under the draft law.
The Secretariat of the Rada, which is the administrator of this register, is proposed to be allowed to process all types of restricted information and to provide access to databases and registers of other state bodies.
The meeting participants supported the proposal to urgently send the draft law to the Government for consideration. After that, it will be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
