Do you know what will happen to your rights and your property if martial law is introduced in Ukraine?
Today, MPs have adopted draft law No. 6302 on national resistance. In general, the draft law is necessary and extremely relevant given the threat of an enemy invasion. However, even here, ILI experts found corruption risks.
In particular, the military command, together with military administrations, in the event of martial law, will be able to
- ban peaceful gatherings, rallies, demonstrations and mass events
- seize electronic communication equipment, television, video and audio equipment, computers, and, if necessary, other technical means of communication from businesses or citizens
- to seize training and military equipment, explosives, radioactive substances and materials, potent chemicals and toxic substances from enterprises
The safeguard to determine the order of these measures by the Cabinet of Ministers, which is in the current rule, is removed.
