Category ‘Death of a close family member’

🇺🇦 Many Ukrainians have lost loved ones due to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. This is an irreparable loss that has caused enormous pain and suffering to thousands of families. The death of a loved one changes lives forever, and no amount of compensation can bring back the victims, but their losses must be recognized and recorded internationally.

For those who have survived the death of a loved one, there is an opportunity to apply to the International Register of Losses. This can be done by parents, children, spouses, or civil partners of the deceased person, as well as other family members who have a close relationship with the deceased.

💔 This category provides for the possibility of recording mental suffering due to the loss of a close family member. It is important to note that the material consequences (loss of property, income, etc.) are addressed in other categories.

❗ Although payments to victims have not yet been made, applying to the Register is the first important step towards compensation. The ILI has prepared guidelines designed to help victims obtain clear and concise information on the possibility of filing a claim and the steps to be taken.
