Tetiana Khutor explained the implications for Ukraine following the exposure of corruption at Energoatom

The example of Operation “Midas” demonstrated the effectiveness of Ukraine’s anti-corruption bodies in combating abuses by government officials in the energy sector. This was stated by Tetiana Khutor, Head of the Institute of Legislative Ideas, on Ukrainian Radio.

“We can be proud that Ukraine’s anti-corruption infrastructure is truly working. And it is very good that our society defends the work of state institutions that have demonstrated their independence and effectiveness. Not many countries can boast of this,” the expert said.

In the view of the Head of ILI, “Mindichgate” may become an additional argument for some countries to reduce or discontinue financial support for Ukraine. However, for EU member states, corruption revelations at Energoatom will not be a reason to decrease the amount of assistance.

“The EU will remain interested in maintaining support in order to strengthen our anti-corruption infrastructure so that such cases become less frequent. The main and genuine objectives of each country are very important,” Tetiana Khutor believes.
