Will Timur Mindich's Israeli citizenship hinder sanctions?

Sanctions may be applied to any Ukrainian citizen, but the grounds for this are limited – they must be related to terrorist activities. Tetiana Khutor, Head of the Institute of Legislative Ideas, explained this on Radio NV.

“However, if individuals do not have Ukrainian citizenship or have ties to another jurisdiction, such an option becomes available. In Tymur Mindich’s case, he holds dual citizenship of Ukraine and Israel. In this situation, sanctions were applied to him as a citizen of Israel”, – the head of ILI added.

The expert noted that Ukrainian authorities attempted to remove all limitations related to grounds for sanctions and their link to terrorist financing, which applies only to citizens. However, all other restrictions remain in force under standard procedures.
