How Ukraine can integrate European practices into its system

On September 12th, a high-level conference on "Effective Sanctions Implementation and Enhanced Cross-Border Cooperation in EU Member States" took place in Brussels. At this event, ILI, as a Council of Europe consultant on EU sanctions policy implementation, presented its recommendations on the issue of asset freezing practices in EU Member States.

At the event, ILI’s Chairwoman, Tetiana Khutor, delivered a presentation titled "Good Practices and Powers of the NCAs related to the freezing of assets", focusing on best practices for asset freezing and the powers of national authorities responsible for sanctions in the EU. Tetiana provided an in-depth analysis of European practices, emphasizing the importance of clear grounds for inclusion in sanctions lists, high standards of proof, and the principle of proportionality.

This presentation highlights ILI’s recognition as an expert not only at the national level but also at the European level, where our expertise helps to improve sanctions policies in EU countries. For us, this is another step towards integrating the best European practices into Ukraine's sanctions system.
