Head of ILI Tetiana Khutor outlined the further steps of the investigation in the case against the former Minister of Energy of Ukraine

The chances of arresting former Minister of Energy of Ukraine and suspect in the “Midas” case, Herman Halushchenko, are high. This was reported by the Head of the Institute of Legislative Ideas, Tetiana Khutor, on air at Suspilne Novyny.

“From this moment, there is also a high probability that other measures may be applied against him. In particular, his assets may be seized with a subsequent ban on their sale or re-registration to relatives and close associates. This is especially relevant if the assets are linked to criminal activity within the framework of which they were seized. At the same time, all other assets not directly related to the case may also be subject to seizure,” the Head of ILI said.

According to Tetiana Khutor, the “Midas” case will continue to produce results for quite some time, which may lead to certain officials losing their positions and assets or even facing imprisonment. Thus, the expert believes that the public demand for a fair fight against corruption will be satisfied.

“In Halushchenko’s case, it is very positive that he was unable to leave the country if NABU and SAPO were preparing a notice of suspicion against him. Accordingly, society will have greater reassurance that those involved in the corruption case will bear legal responsibility for their actions,” she noted.

The Head of ILI reminded that Herman Halushchenko was detained while attempting to cross the border. He is involved in NABU’s “Midas” case concerning embezzlement at Energoatom. Investigative actions are currently ongoing in accordance with the requirements of the law and court authorization.
