The key topic of the meeting was the discussion of Ukraine's next steps in the European integration process
During their visit to Brussels, the Institute for Legislative Ideas team, together with other representatives of civil society organizations, held a working meeting with representatives of the Irish Embassy and a representative of the European Commission. The meeting was attended by project managers Andriy Klymosyuk and Anastasiia Petsenchuk, as well as legal analyst Oksana Huzii.
An important issue was the harmonization of sanctions legislation with EU standards. In particular, attention was paid to draft law No. 12406 on the criminalization of violations and circumvention of sanctions, which has already been supported by the Verkhovna Rada in the first reading. This document is an important part of the harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with EU law. European colleagues expressed interest in the prospects for the adoption of the draft law and the further improvement of Ukraine's sanctions policy.
The topic of cultural heritage protection was also discussed. ILI representatives spoke about their efforts to ensure the sustainable protection of Ukrainian cultural heritage in the context of military threats. This involves a comprehensive approach that covers both the physical protection of objects and their legal protection.
This meeting in Brussels provided an opportunity for a substantive and open dialogue on strengthening Ukraine's resilience and partnership with the international community. We would like to thank the Embassy of Ireland, representatives of the European Commission, and the civil society sector for the constructive discussion and support for changes that bring Ukraine closer to the EU.
