The Institute of Legislative Ideas was a key speaker at a closed workshop of the Council of Europe for EU sanctions authorities

On 1 April, a closed workshop on ‘Sanctions Enforcement, Freezing Practices and Exchange of Information’ was held in Vilnius, organised by the European Commission and the Council of Europe for national sanctions authorities from 24 European Union countries. The event aimed to deepen cooperation, exchange experiences and improve practices in the implementation and monitoring of sanctions in EU member states.

The Institute of Legislative Ideas played a leading role in the workshop, delivering two of the three main presentations. IZI Chair Tetiana Khutor presented an in-depth analysis of EU countries' responses to the Council of Europe's questionnaires, the practice of the EU Court of Justice in asset freezing cases, typical mistakes made by national authorities and models of effective inter-agency coordination.

In addition, the ILI was selected by Council of Europe experts to join the Economic Crime and Cooperation Division. This committee works to improve sanctions policy in European Union countries. The ILI's inclusion in the committee is an important milestone in the recognition of the Institute's professional expertise in the field of sanctions policy and the fight against economic crime.

The Institute of Legislative Ideas continues to work actively on the development of effective sanctions policy mechanisms in Ukraine and at the international level, contributing to the strengthening of the rule of law and the protection of democratic values.
