The head of the ILI, Tetiana Khutor, spoke on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel about the funds that Ukraine can count on from Swiss accounts

On the same day, the Swiss authorities made two statements: one that the country is not going to confiscate Russian assets, and the other that there will be a trial to confiscate the assets of people associated with Yanukovych. All in all, there is a prospect of confiscation of assets totalling 130 million Swiss francs (over UAH 5 billion).

"The confiscation process announced concerns the assets of Yanukovych's entourage. And it started back in 2014 after the Revolution of Dignity. It was then that these assets were seized,’ said Khutor.

"The Swiss law allows freezing assets for 10 years, which means that these 10 years will soon be over. There are two ways - either to unfreeze these assets or to start the confiscation process," explained Khutor.

The situation with the assets of the Russian Federation is quite different. Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Switzerland has frozen about $8 billion of Russian assets. This amount is much higher than the money of Yanukovych and co. But Switzerland is in no hurry to confiscate them. This requires a completely different legal procedure.
