What to Expect Next in the Mudra Case? – ILI Head’s Comment on Apostrophe TV

Iryna Mudra may be interested in cooperating with the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) in order to mitigate potential liability for herself. Tetiana Khutor, Head of the Institute of Legislative Ideas, said this on Apostrophe TV, commenting on the High Anti-Corruption Court’s decision to remand the former Deputy Head of the Office of the President in custody.

“There is a great deal of information that Iryna Mudra can share with the anti-corruption authorities. She wants to use this because she understands that it is not in her interest to remain the only person in the spotlight of the investigation,” the expert said.

According to her, such cooperation could provide law enforcement with new information about other figures involved in the case and potentially expand the circle of suspects.

“Of course, this will lead to a chain reaction. We may not see the revelations immediately. But law enforcement agencies, NABU and SAPO will have much more opportunities to investigate and expose more individuals,” Tetiana Khutor noted.

At the same time, the ILI Head does not rule out the risks of Iryna Mudra contacting other figures involved in the case. However, according to her, following the court’s decision, any such attempts will be subject to close monitoring by the anti-corruption authorities.

“If Iryna Mudra tries to contact anyone, their activities will immediately come under close scrutiny by law enforcement,” Tetiana Khutor said.

Commenting on the defense’s position, the ILI Head stressed that criminal liability may arise not only for committing a crime directly, but also for aiding and abetting a crime or abuse of influence.
