The ILI will host an online discussion on the challenges of establishing war-related disability status for civilians

How can civilians affected by Russian aggression document damage to their health and protect their rights?

On May 8, the Institute of Legislative Ideas will hold an online discussion on the challenges of establishing disability as a result of war for civilians, as well as possible solutions.

For those affected, the legal documentation of health damage often becomes a complicated process: improperly оформлена medical documentation, difficulties in proving causation, and dependence on criminal proceedings.

During the event, we will discuss:

what does not work in the current procedure for establishing war-related disability for civilians;

what changes ILI proposes based on its research findings;

how affected individuals can already submit applications to the Register of Damage for Ukraine under category A2.3 “Serious bodily injuries” – even without official disability status.

The discussion will be moderated by ILI Chair Tetiana Khutor, and ILI Project Manager Andrii Klymosiuk will present the study explaining why it is difficult for civilians to obtain war-related disability status – and what needs to be changed in the procedure.
