Head of ILI met with EU Ambassador to Ukraine together with other civil society organizations

Tetiana Khutor, Head of the Institute of Legislative Ideas (ILI), took part in a meeting with the EU Ambassador to Ukraine, Katarína Mathernová, dedicated to the role of civil society in advancing key reforms. The event brought together think tanks and activists working on judicial reform, anti-corruption policy, and human rights protection.

«Civil society organizations play a crucial role during this challenging time, when trust in institutions is shaken by large-scale corruption scandals», – noted Katarína Mathernová.

She emphasized that an independent civil sector creates the demand for transparency and accountability, moving the country forward.

During the meeting, the EU also presented a new €17 million call for proposals to support organizations working in the areas of human rights, media, anti-discrimination efforts, social cohesion, youth initiatives, and support for women leaders.

As part of the discussion, the Head of ILI highlighted the need to:

  • update and harmonize Ukraine’s sanctions legislation;
  • develop legislative changes to enable the recovery of corruption assets;
  • regulate restrictions concerning persons linked to the aggressor state in the context of national security and citizens’ rights.

ILI consistently works in these areas, combining analytical work and advocacy to ensure the sustainability of reforms and their real effectiveness for society.

We thank Ms. Mathernová for the dialogue and support of Ukraine’s civil society sector. We continue working on changes that make a real difference for people.
